What we Believe

Vision

The local church is the hope of the world, it’s God’s primary vehicle for sharing and demonstrating the good news about Jesus.

This is worked out in four simple values:

1. We Enjoy God

Someone once said “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever”. We believe that because of Jesus we can enjoy a new relationship with God.  God is not remote or impersonal, rather, we can approach him with confidence. In him we find true joy, contentment, security, peace, hope and excitement. Whenever we gather we believe God is with us and that he wants to speak to us and shape us.  The Bible says there is no better place than being in God’s presence – we agree!

2. We Welcome the Spirit

The life of a Christian is only possible through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit there is power to live a God honouring life and boldness to tell others what we believe.  He distributes gifts to everyone to build up the church, filling the lives of those who ask, so whenever we meet we welcome the Holy Spirit amongst us.

3. We Take the Bible Seriously

God has spoken to us clearly through the Bible, it is the inspired Word of God which is relevant to every person in every generation. We believe it speaks into every area of our lives; our relationships, our homes, our work, our friendships, our money, our fears, our hopes and our futures.  Therefore we take it seriously by not changing it to fit in with our culture, rather allowing it to shape us as individuals and as a church. Most obviously we do this through our priority to read it and talk about it when we gather.

4.  We Win Others to Jesus

Jesus was fully God and fully man, through his death and resurrection we can know forgiveness, restoration and a relationship with God. The church exists to carry on the work Jesus began; His message is good news for everyone. At the end of the book of Matthew (in the Bible) Jesus tells his followers to go into all the world making disciples and this commission is the focus of all that we do.  We, as a church, want to communicate and demonstrate the good news about Jesus.

Our Vision Statement is:

“To be a strong and vibrant church making disciples and demonstrating the Kingdom of God.”
